New fabric....so fresh!

I know I'm a little late on the navy crazy...but I'm in love!  My favorite quilt shop, Quiltique, had a sale today so I picked up some super fresh fabric for a new quilt...Rebecca will be my prototype tester (she doesn't know it yet).

We are busy sewing around here...and cooking!  The cooking isn't for fun....I recently found out I have Celiac and this is really cramping my style.  Eating out sucks...salads suck....worrying all the time about your next meal sucks...having to prepare ALL of your food sucks....And then, to top it off, I'm one blood test away from diabetes!  Guess what is a no-no now??  White potatoes, rice and corn!  LOL...all the things that Celiacs substitute for wheat.  You know what you can have on both diets....more salad!  And beans!  And meat!  But not too much or my high cholesterol will hit the roof....I think there is a nasty Venn diagram for Celiacs, diabetics and people with high cholesterol and they intersection of all three is very, very small!

It turns out that the last 10 years of neglecting my health have caught up with me.  Some serious changes are in my future that disrupt my sewing time.  These include exercise, cooking and food prep, starving, and whining!  I'm almost past the whining stage...maybe!  I'll try to keep up with blogging and I'll not take pics of my gluten free, low glycemic load, fat free foods.... ;-)

My fabric is out of the wash and I'm off to sew!  Happy Quilting!!

What's new...

We have been working on stuff lately.  Rebecca made a cute butterfly quilt for Etsy...I quilted it today.

I don't get upstairs to quilt very often these days.  I've been writing quilt patterns....that takes lots of time.  Time to make the quilt, write the pattern, test it over and over again....etc.  I think I have five written so far, and a couple more in the works.  I can't show pics while I'm working on them...I mean, if I slow up and don't write the pattern for a month, someone else could steal it!!  LOL....

I changed the pattern stuff to the name Log Cabin Quiltery.  Here is the logo thing..

Why not ZanyQuilter?  Because I'd love to retire that name....but I've been blogging in that mode for a while, and I quilted with that name since 2004, so I guess I've just stuck with it.  But I'd like to be done with it so I didn't want to carry on with it anywhere....I've also got a parallel blog going for Log Cabin Quiltery.  I only post stuff related to Etsy sales or patterns, etc....nothing personal.

Some friends are thinking of trying out another craft show in May.  We should really begin working on stuff for that....Our last one in December was a bust due to SNOW in LasVegas.  We made about 80 mug rugs and had some patterns, baby quilts, tablerunners...and nothing.  Sort of defeating...but we'll try again!

I'll post more later this week, hopefully!  I'm halfway through the school year...90 more work days left!

Happy Quilting!

Batik Baby Butterfly Quilt...

I pulled out this quilt top that I made last spring...but never quilted.  It is destined for my classroom wall after Valentine's Day.  This is my Valentine's quilt that hangs in Jan/Feb...It was just log cabin blocks...some red/pink, some half and half, some all lights....

This is the butterfly one...The batiks were purchased on a shop hop a few years ago...and some cutie text prints.  I quilted a panto called "Blowin' Wind" on it....

Up close shot....

I'm working on another quilt pattern and I have one drafted for myself (not a pattern).  I really need to get on this stuff since work is resuming...damn.  ;-)  I'll try to keep posting and not let so much time pass by between posts...

Happy Quilting!

Lucille is available!

I finalized my Lucille quilt pattern. I love this little quilt so much! And what quilter doesn't have a stash of fat quarters ready at any given moment?? This one is 54" x 54", perfect for a toddler nap quilt, baby quilt or small lap quilt. Other sizes and fabric requirements are given in the pattern.

It is available for purchase in both my Craftsy and Etsy shops...
